THE BRIEF
As a large regional estate and land agency serving many areas within Cumbria, it was key for PFK to have a website which presented all of their services together in a single, easy to navigate platform. Integration of property and land search was essential, linking the website to the DezRez listing platform which is a key part of their marketing and customer-facing delivery of property and land sales information.
THE APPROACH
Chris and Rebecca sat down with the brand guidelines and information provided by PFK, to create the most effective solution to bring 5 separate and difficult to navigate websites into a single, cohesive solution.
With use of custom fonts, colours and icons, a clear navigation structure was created, ensuring all pages from the old, individual websites, were accounted for. A small number of previously separate pages were merged, to bring clarity to areas of the old websites which were less than clear on purpose.
Once the navigation and page requirements were finalised with the client, Rebecca created a range of bespoke website page designs. These designs were presented to the client for feedback and review before the final website build was undertaken.
Light Bulb's developers created a custom Joomla extension to pull in data from DezRez, storing key information in the local database, allowing fast and efficient searching of land and properties by website visitors. Search accuracy was key, and we improved on previous provision through more refined search behaviour within the synchronised data.
THE RESULTS
After final testing of the development website, a large number of 301 redirects were put in place to ensure anyone following links to the old websites would be automatically to the new website content.
The live website now delivers a single website for all core elements of PFK's services, resulting in a solution which is clearer and easier to use for website visitors.
From an SEO perspective, their search traffic and visitors are no longer split across 5 individual websites, ensuring that anyone using their services are now more visible to users, without any complex and confusing navigation tricks.
